3 specific goals

1. Use of emotion in presentation. Need to use more facial expressions when speaking about certain things.

2. Look at the listeners. Don"t look at the projector so much.

3. Use of energy. Put more energy into speaking and actions. Also not to talk too fast.

Self-analysis of presentation

1. Voice (Volume, rate, pausing, emphasis etc)
Reflection:I thought that I spoke too fast at times, 

probably because of time. Could have had more 

emphasis on certain words that needed more emotion. 

Could also have spoken louder.
Goals:Speak louder, use more energy/emphasis and 

watch rate of speaking.

2. Body Language (Eye contact, gestures, posture etc)
Reflection:I looked at the projector a lot, I think 

because I was unsure of the order of the slides. I 

think I may have also done too many hand gestures.
Goals:Look more at the audience, also balance the use 

of hand gestures.

3. Visuals (Images or text on slides, timing etc)
Reflection:I thought visuals were good, the first slide 

was just a joke.
Goals:Make eye candy like visuals.

4. Preparation Process (Topic selection, notes, 

visuals creation, rehearsals etc)
Reflection: I thought it was pretty good. the process of 

creating everything was pretty fast, just remember the 

order was somewhat hard.
Goals:Remember order of slides.

5. Any other reflections or goals?

I think just using emotion and energy are a big deal, and 

I really need to focus on including them in my presentations.

Impression

I've noticed that when it comes to the more humorous presentations, the presenter tends to speak a little fast than usual. But Michael then slows down a bit after the introduction to talk more about the important theme of his presentation, where he suggests that although we don't have sound science to prove things, humans use their power of suggestion which leads them to believe strange things such as the Virgin Mary on a cheese sandwich, seeing faces on Mars, or hearing Satanic lyrics in the "Stairway to Heaven" when played backwards.

Strengths

• Very informative

• Uses a lot of illustrative examples that are humorous and draws the audiences attention
  

• Doesn't use notes
  

• Use of props, very funny to watch the marijuana dowsing rod.
  

• Interacts with audience

Weakness

• Should probably speak slower at times

• The way he walks about the stage is kind of distracting

Brainstorm a list of 5 or more characteristics of good presentations and a list of 5 or more characteristics of a bad presentation.

Good presentation:
1. Speaking with a clear and energetic voice
2. Good intonation and emphasis on specific words and sentences for listeners to easily understand.
3. Eye contact with everyone in the room.
4. Good posture; standing up straight, not shuffling around.
5. Use of gestures

Bad presentation:
1. Mumbling
2. Speaking in a low and mono-toned voice
3. Shuffling around
4. Consistently touching face/hair or putting hair behind ears.
5. Lack of eye contact
